During the first few years of the Internet, people would download music. It was a common occurrence. People used free music sharing programs to share and exchange music. After a few years of mass amounts of download, the music industry began to take action.

Now, to download music a fee needs to be paid. This fee goes to the music industry. It is the way for the musicians and the industry to get paid for every musical download.

It is possible to download music without paying. These free downloads are usually offered as a promotion. They can be found on popular Internet download sites and some musician’s official Websites.
